The New Recruit

Meet Ludwig – music, handball and menswear enthusiast – and new Berg & Berg team member. His new colleagues Fabian and Andreas joined him on his daily boat commute to discuss Korean tailoring, sports, playing the trombone and ice cream.

Hello, Ludwig, who are you?

Hello! I am Ludwig Jernberg, a young menswear enthusiast from the northern suburbs of Stockholm who loves to express himself with clothes and shoes. I have been interested in fashion and style for as long as I can remember and it was sometime around 16-17 that I realised that one could wear tailoring and classic menswear without it being too uptight or posh.

I like to combine influences of Ivy League, Korean/Japanese tailoring, armywear, workwear, scandi-minimalism and perhaps a little dash of french chic or disco!

I see myself as more of a stylist rather than a potential designer and I hope to one day be regarded as a historian on the subject.

Why did you decide to join the Berg & Berg team?

After completing my Bachelor in Textile Management from the Swedish School of Textiles, I was searching for a new challenge. When contemplating on where to reach out I really couldn’t think of anywhere I wanted to go more than to Berg & Berg. The brand’s philosophy and style is right up my alley and I feel so at home. An assortment and style with just the right amount of colour and pattern together with the right amount of subdued elegance.

What are your interests beyond menswear?

The two things I put most thought into, other than menswear, must be music and handball!

In elementary school I studied music and in high school I studied sports and health. I love music both new and old, everything from jazz, funk, RnB and soul to bossa nova, techno, disco and even some commercial pop. I myself play the trombone and I am a decent drummer.

I played handball for many years as a kid and teenager, trying many positions but eventually ended up as goalkeeper. Today I don’t play anymore but instead I follow my favorite team (THW Kiel) and keep myself up to date with the standings of more or less every major league in Europe. Other than that I am interested in art, reading, shoeshining and eating ice cream.

Have you found any favorites from the current Berg & Berg collection?

Most definitely! My favorite pieces this season are the Norbert duffle coat in brown, the Bernhard raglan turtleneck (all colours), the classic Ferdinand shirt in ivory, the Antonio trousers in the heavy khaki cotton twill and finally the Dan blazer in olive corduroy, paired together with the matching Antonio trousers. Additionally, I can’t live without my fingerless gloves in taupe, they’re just great!

(Ludwig is wearing the new George gabardine/suede down vest - coming soon.)
